One of the most innovative workstations by Dell is the Precision 7820 Tower. This desktop can be configured with sufficient power and performance to complete complex projects seamlessly. It can even be implemented with hardware that can handle virtual truth content development. Thankfulness to Reliable Memory Technology Pro(RMT), the Dell 7820 doesn't have the memory challenges others have.
The dual-socket architecture provides for up to 28-cores per
processor for a total of 56-cores if a dual-processor configuration is
selected. The base price includes a single Xeon Bronze 3104 processor that is
important in its own right (85W / 6C / 6T). A Xeon Silver processor can be
chosen as the single processor for a bit more. Dual processor configurations
involve Xeon Gold and Platinum options.
This machine is not only very powerful, but it is also quiet.
Workers can focus on the task at hand in peace since there is no loud noise.
The multi-channel thermal design provides for advanced cooling and acoustics.
The Dell 7280 never comes close to overheating.
Think how much memory is probable with a six-channel
architecture and 12-DIMM slots (6/CPU). At the lower-end of the scale is 1x8GB
RDIMM memory (involved in base price). The Dell Precision 7820 appears with a
long list of possible memory configurations, all the way upto 384GB (12 x
32GB)! However, this amount of memory is just feasible among a dual CPU
configuration.
Additionally, on a dual CPU configuration, there is sufficient
room for two x 150 W single-width graphics video cards. There is support for
upto 500 W with two PCI Express x16 Generation 3 graphics cards on a single CPU
configuration. Options involve professional 2D cards like NVIDIA NVS315,
high-end 3D cards like NVIDIA Quadro GP100 and Radeon WX9100 - and everything
in between.
For storage, the front available FlexBays support upto four SATA
HDD / SSDs and upto six 2.5-inch and five 3.5-inches drives with a 5.25-inches
bay populated.
Dell Precision7820 Starter Version
In the starter cost, the Dell Precision 7820 highlights
integrated GB Ethernet controllers (Intel i219). Other high-level Intel and
networking cards are optional. There are multiple fronts, internal and
backports, and slots on this machine, including USB 3.1 Type-C, Type-A, Audio
line-in / microphone, audio lineout, universal audio jack, several USB2.0
ports, and more.
This is just a quick summary of all of the configuration choices
available. The price difference from base configuration to a sufficiently
upgraded and scaled machine is huge. However, online Dell Precision 7820
discounts support make it more affordable.
